The Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, Alabama was amazing! We stood where Rosa Parks was arrested after getting off the bus. Inside the museum a time machine took us back through history to important times in the struggle for Civil Rights. We discovered the origin of Jim Crow and learned about important people and events during that time. For example: Dred Scott, Harriet Tubman, The Civil War, and Plessy vs. Ferguson.

The kids boarded this bus, similar to the one Rosa Parks rode in 1955, and they sat across the isle from her. On that infamous night 3 other African Americans were sitting in Rosa's row. They moved to the back of the bus, but Rosa calmly stood her ground. Her arrest led to the Montgomery Bus Boycotts, the first major event in the modern civil rights movement.
