We were so blessed to have Adam's parents come from Indiana to spend Christmas with us! Before Christmas we took them to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN. It was an amazing, amazing experience!! The Eagle Center is located on the banks of the beautiful Mississippi river, and it happens to be directly on the eagles' migratory path. We did see one wild eagle, but we heard that you can see up to 100 at a time on some days during mid-November to late March. I read that on one March day, the eagle count in Wabasha was 697! The National Eagle Center is a place for injured eagles who were nursed back to health but can't survive on their own in the wild anymore. We had the privilege of meeting an eagle named, Columbia. She is pictured with the man in the red shirt below. He said that she was a pretty feisty eagle and not many trainers could handle her.

This was such an awesome field trip! The presentation was very entertaining and informative. The kids were even able to see the eagles eat an early Christmas present--live minnows! There were also lots of coloring pages and crafts to take home to do with the kids later. We will definitely go back!***Christmas pictures to come! :)
