More Thoughts on Clinging to God:
My Mom's Bible study leader from a couple of years ago, Jean Stockdale, once told us that the flesh is like putting on a pair of comfortable tennis shoes. It is the easy choice--one I have chosen for years. However, I don't want my old tennis shoes anymore. After all, they are filthy and they stink! I am a new creation in Christ, and I want to live like it!

I want to resist the flesh and cling to what is good. I know that if I starve the flesh, it will die. My goal is to starve my flesh! It is hard when I am confronted each day with the world, the flesh, and the devil. However, God is more powerful than all 3, and I will find victory if I rely on him alone!
"Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. " 1 John 2:16-17 NLT

What a sweet reminder to CLING to God!
